The are four main ways that you are able to stop smoking.  All these ways are available to you just as they were to me and from my own experience there are better ways than others.

As a non smoker who struggled for years to completely quit smoking and as an practitioner who helps others stop smoking the main question I am asked is "What is the best way to stop smoking?" 

For me, only one of the main methods to stop smoking actually worked in totality and that is the way I help others to quit this terrible curse of smoking.



The four main methods to stop smoking are:

1.
Willpower 

This is the most common way and although willpower can stop you having a cigarette it can lead to frustration because the reason for smoking has not been resolved.  Many smokers do not smoke cigarettes but still want one!  With this method of stopping smoking there is always a risk of returning to being a smoker as happens with many people.

2.  Patches/Nicotine Replacement

This is madness because part the issue with smoking is a physical addiction to nicotine.  Replacing the nicotine from cigarettes with nicotine from some other source cannot help you remove the addiction to this drug, the only way to stop the addiction is to stop putting it into your body!

3.  Cutting Down

This is the most painful and difficult way to quit smoking.  Reducing the number of cigarettes smoked will:  create ongoing withdrawal symptoms because your smoking less:  make each cigarette smoked more and more precious to you, making it even harder to stop smoking. 

4.  No Willpower

This is the best and easiest way to stop smoking because it allows you to enjoy the process of stopping smoking.  Because there is no willpower involved there is no 'inner' struggle and because the reason for the smoking and the fears of becoming a non smoker have been resolved, stopping smoking is as easy as it can be!
